What this site is, and how it pays for itself

App Buyer Guide compares business software so you can build a shortlist without reading forty pricing pages. This page explains how the comparisons are put together and where the money comes from, because you should know both before you trust a recommendation.

How we research

Every comparison is built from each vendor's own published material — pricing pages, plan limits, feature documentation and support policies — together with publicly reported user feedback about where each tool works well and where it frustrates people.

This is desk research. We are not claiming to have run every one of these tools inside a business for a year. Where a guide reflects direct experience we say so on that guide; where it doesn't, treat it as a well-organised summary of what the vendors and their users publish, which is exactly what it is.

What the ratings mean

The score next to each tool is an editorial judgement, not a measurement. It reflects four things: how clear and honest the pricing is, how well the core features hold up for the job the category describes, how steep the learning curve is, and how severe the known limitations are relative to competitors.

It is not an average of user reviews, and no vendor can influence it. Two tools with the same score are not interchangeable — read the tradeoffs, which matter far more than the number.

How we make money

Some outbound links are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. This is how the site is funded.

No vendor pays for inclusion, for a position in a ranking, for a score, or for a softer write-up. Tools without an affiliate programme are compared on exactly the same terms as tools with one, and appear in the same rankings. The criticism in a review does not soften because a link earns.

What we get wrong

Software pricing changes constantly and plan limits change quietly. Every guide carries the date it was last updated — if you're reading one that looks stale, check the vendor's pricing page before making a decision, and tell us so we can fix it.

Corrections

If something here is wrong — a price, a feature, a limitation that no longer applies — we want to know. Corrections are made on the page rather than quietly swapped out.

Contact

Corrections, questions, or a vendor who thinks we've got something wrong about their product — all go to the same place:

Vendors are welcome to point out factual errors. Nobody gets a rating changed by asking.
