Privacy policy
App Buyer Guide is a software comparison site. We don't sell anything, we don't have accounts, and we don't ask you to sign up for anything. This page explains the small amount of data that does get collected and what happens to it.
What we collect
Nothing you type. There are no forms, no logins, no newsletter signup and no comments on this site. We have no way to collect your name, email address or any other personal detail, because we never ask for one.
Anonymous usage statistics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages get read and roughly where readers come from. This records things like the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location (city level, from your IP address), your browser and your device type. It is not used to identify you personally.
Affiliate tracking. We use Impact.com's tracking tag, which records when affiliate links are shown and followed so that referrals can be credited. Impact may share the data it collects with the advertisers whose programmes we participate in. Their privacy policy governs what they do with it.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell repeat visits from new ones. Affiliate links may also set a cookie recording that you arrived at a vendor's site from here, so any resulting sale is credited to us.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Nothing on this site breaks if you do — there is no logged-in state to lose. You can also install Google's official opt-out add-on to stop Analytics entirely across every site you visit.
Affiliate links
Some links to software vendors are affiliate links. If you follow one and later sign up, the vendor may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. The vendor sets a cookie to track that referral — their privacy policy governs what they do with it, not ours.
We are not told who you are when this happens. Vendors report conversions as anonymous totals, not as identifiable people.
Who your data goes to
We don't sell, rent or share data with anyone. The only third parties that receive anything are:
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage statistics
- Netlify — hosts the site and keeps standard server logs
- Impact.com — affiliate tracking; records when affiliate links are shown and followed, and may share that data with the advertisers whose programmes we're in
We don't hand over anything ourselves, and none of these receive your name or email address, because we never collect one.
Your rights
If you're in the EU or UK, GDPR gives you the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to processing. Australian visitors have comparable rights under the Privacy Act.
In practice we hold no personal data about you that we could return or delete — there's no account and no mailing list. If you want your Analytics data removed, clearing your cookies achieves it, and you're welcome to email us and we'll help.
Children
This site is aimed at people buying software for a business. It is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We won't quietly swap the wording and leave the old date in place.
